FSUE "VIAM" RF SRC enrolls research students for the postgraduate studies in the following specialities:
materials science (industry)
||metal science and metal thermal treatment
||polymer materials and composites technology and processing
Candidates are offered over 60 scientific and technical trends in the specialities specified. FSUE VIAM RF SRC carries out fundamental investigations in the area of metal science and thermal treatment of steels and alloys, physical chemistry, polymer chemistry, thermal protection, corrosion, mycology, strength and reliability theory, physical techniques for non-destructive analysis. The Institute performs research and applied investigations associated with developing structural and functional materials, chiefly for aviation purposes (high-strength, heat-resistant, corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant steels and alloys on the basis of Aluminium, Magnesium, Titanium, Nickel, intermetallides; composite materials on the metal and polymer matrices; high service life and functional coatings, painting, mechanical rubber and ornamental materials; structural adhesives, sealants and special-purpose fluids) and their production technologies. Besides, researches are carried out into service durability and compatibility of all types of materials under all-climatic conditions and influence of physical factors.
Scientific trends are headed in the Institute by an academician and two associated members of Russian Academy of Sciences, 6 members of International Engineer Academy, RF Academy of Technological Sciences and Transport Academy, as well as by 33 Doctors and over 120 candidates of sciences.
SE "VIAM" is equipped with unique home-made and foreign facilities securing high quality of developments.
Academic council of the Institute has the right to accept Doctoral and Candidate theses for defense. The postgraduate studies department has over 50 years experience of working with scientific workers.
The Institute has the State Accreditation and Licence No. 16-260 dtd. 16 March 1999.
